dear, i miss you

today, i depart. i'll be in the middle of nowhere, living in a cottage; painting and fishing.
because i'll be in the middle of nowhere, i won't be able to blog. the good news, is that i'm only gone 'til sunday. the bad news is, on monday i leave again. this time, for gloucester massachusetts.
these two trips are the first ones since i went to florida in march. it was beautiful, i love it there. here are a few pictures from that trip.

as you can probably tell, i love photographing the sky. it's just so beautiful!
anyways, i will think of ideas of what to write while i'm gone and i'll photograph things to show you. if any of my paintings work out, i'll take a picture of those too to show you!
oh, and of course, i'll try to catch some fish for you!
i hope everyone has a lovely weekend, and if you have any exciting cottage stories, i would love to hear them!
though i won't be able to write to you, i'll still be able to see what is written to me! (thank goodness for having a phone that i can get emails on...)
take care!
xxo.

don't run and hide

and i've found another amazing designer on etsy, by the name of kavari.

thoughts?

pictures in magazines

so, i've found a photographer who specializes in street photography by the name of matt stuart. they aren't exactly my thing, but they're definately cute with a bit of a twist.
for example;

i thought i'd share it in case any of you were interested in this type of photography.
the picture i absolutely adore wouldn't fit, but the one i posted makes me laugh too! you can see the one i love here.
i'll post soon with examples of the type of photography i love.
xxo.

talk about the most adorable dress of life. i guess you could say i'm in love. isn't it beautiful?

this is keith, by keith lissner.
i really like the texture. if you look at the other dresses, they all have a lot of texture as well.
love love love love love!

if i gave my heart to you

on new years, my brother proposed to his girlfriend (we'll call her melodie, just so that we don't get confused). it was their four year anniversary, and my family and melodie were all in england for a cousins wedding. romantic time of year, i'll be honest!

my whole family is a huge fan of melodie. she's nice, funny, and smart. (there's a reason for this story, don't you worry!) now, since they are both in their early twenties, and have only recently aquired steady jobs, they've decided to wait 'til august 2011 for their wedding. absolutely brutal.
but, the amazing thing is, i get to be a bridesmaid!

since it's an august wedding, melodie would like her wedding dress to not be full length, but to be longer than her knees. i'd never heard of this length of wedding dress, so i went in search of one! have you ever seen a dress about that length? let me know, i would really like to find one for her! i haven't yet found her the perfect dress, but i have found one for me! now, i can't copy the picture, but if you'd like to see the prettiest dress ever, click here.
while discussing with melodie what she wanted to do for the bridesmaids dresses, she said that she thought it would be really cute to do like what happened in sex and the city... where at
carries wedding, her three bridesmaids had different coloured dresses. now, i was blown away by this idea, but i love it! so i discussed with melodie who her bridesmaids were, and what color she'd want them to wear. there are four of us, my sister and i, and melodie and her two sisters.
we decided on this...

i would be wearing navy blue,
my sister would be wearing a dark green,
melodies twin sister would be wearing gray,
and her older sister would be wearing yellow.

now, you may not think that these colors would all go well together, but i definately see potential. if melodie doesn't do this at hers, i'll probably do it at mine. and i already found the bridesmaids dresses for my wedding too! it's designed by vera wang.

oh, i can't wait to get married. all i need now is a boy!

and now, i'm off downtown to go to thrift stores and antique stores to see what i can find! i'll let you know about my buys!
xxo.

just come a little closer

ever since having seen a post on fashionable dreams by butterfly, i've been wanting to share what she discussed. the credits are all hers. she, on a site named etsy, found an artist who creates the most dainty jewelry. name? mylavaliere.
our favorites were a different, but we both seem to love mylavaliere to the same degree.

this one is my favorite, by far, though there are some new recent ones that are also very nice. for those of you that don't speak french, it means ' i love you more than yesterday, less than tomorrow. ' cute, don't you find? only $23!

at first i couldn't understand why this necklace was called the oui (yes in french) necklace, when the necklace clearly states non (no in french. go figure, right?) i looked into the description, and when you flip the necklace...

it'll say oui!

this is another necklace i really like. don't you?
the style of this store is vintage, and they don't only have necklaces! they also have headbands, bracelets, brochs... that type thing. i highly recommend checking it out. i'm going to search etsy and try to find amazing artists like mylavaliere.
anyways, that's it for now!
i hope everyone is taking very good care of themselves and are having a nice week.

xxo.

would you promise to be true

i really need to get more consistent when it comes to writing blogs... i've finished an abstract painting, that is actually now my most favorite painting. i love it.
yesterday i went shopping with two friends of mine, and had some great buys! i'm extremely short on money right now, but i was extremely lucky yesterday! i'm adding a lot of exclamation points, i just noticed, but it's only 'cause i'm still on a high from yesterday.
i bought a very cute three tiered skirt from i&f (i'm pretty sure that's what it was called... can't quite remember.)and it's... well, it's black with blue floral, and it's a lovely chiffon fabric. it's lovely. $6!
i also bought a new wallet. well, it's not actually a wallet, but i'm going to use it as one. it's actually what seems to be a small clutch. it's circle shapped, black lace with a lilac silk underneath and a metal clasp. it was... dum dum dum, $8! i needed a new wallet because when i was in florida, we went on a boat trip, and my mom, without realizing it, put my bag underneath something that poured out water... so everything in my handbag was wet. books, sketches, all my money and love notes (actually serious about that last one).

so my wallet, which was white, was now a funny gray color, and it was peeling... none too pleasant. anyways, so now i have this beautiful new wallet!
i also bought a navy jacket that goes to my hips, very cute. it's something only a few people would wear, and i think i'll be wearing it often! it was $7. i'll upload a photo as soon as possible, but seeing as i don't have a computer to myself, it may be a few weeks time.
the last thing i bought were some sunglasses from aldo accesories, absolutely adorable! voila! they were only $10, since they were having a sale, buy 2 for 20. my friend only liked one pair, so i bought a pair so that we could get the deal. it only would've been two dollars more... but i thought the glasses i bought were cute!
so, those were my buys for yesterday. and today, i was at chapters, and i bought 4 books for 10 dollars. they were;

' rubber houses ' by ellen yeomans,
' love in the time of taffeta ' by eugénie olson,
' lucy blue, where are you? ' by louise harwood,
and finally, ' the romance readers' book club ' by julie l. cannon.

don't laugh, i love reading. though, i can't say i'm one of those people who'll wait 'til midnight to get the book... you know? there's just something so... fulfilling about books.something movies can't quite give...
the twilight series... fantastic to read, weren't they? addicting. the movie... wasn't quite as fulfilling. what do you think? i found it's the same as harry potter (thought of that since it's on the tv right now... goblet of fire!) i don't know about you, but i liked the books much more than the movies.
i love romance novels as well. i've already read one that i bought earlier, the one named ' Lucy Blue, Where Are You? ' it was so adorable!
i'm afraid i must go to bed, sorry i haven't discussed much fashion. hope everyone is doing well!
take care.

nights wild and hazy

so, i have returned home, and after having spent the last 5 hours going through magazines, cutting out pictures of my favorite outfits, shoes and accesories, i'm sorry to say i'm now craving a good day of shopping. the sad part is, i am awfully broke. the good news is, i've come up with a few things to talk about!
i've always been a fan of wearing something really fancy with something quite casual. i'll never forget having seen in a magazine a lady wearing nice looking sweatpants and high heels! i would never be able to pull this off... (my sweatpants look awful, but oh so comfy!)

for example, voila;

here, we see a beautiful woman in a glamorous outfit. i adore those shoes (though maybe not the color so much...), and that skirt is fantastic. and the shirt... it's average. do you see what i'm getting at? wearing fancy with not fancy. there are a few more on the giuseppe zanotti site, where you can see glamorous combined with every day, and the outcome being perfect.
goodness, am i ever tired. anyways, continuing on!

have you ever heard of pringle of scotland? here's an example of their type of fashion/photography.

what do you think? i personally love it. the fact that the photos are black and white adds so much to it! what say you of the fashion? i also adore it. so much detail, and so many accesories. i wonder sometimes if there's such thing as too many layers... and yes, there are. but if you're good at layering, then it's limitless!

i'm a huge fan of layering, if done well. all i need is a ton of money, and i'm set! i seriously need to get a job. it would help my craving for clothes. especially if i got a job at a clothing store... just being around clothes makes me happy. it's like a drug!

come down now

the most annoying thing of the day? waiting for my brother to finish hockey camp and having little kids run around yelling and screaming. i used to have patience with children... 'til i worked with kids three summers in a row. there are always a few that won't listen to anybody, who run away from camp, who purposely try to hurt other kids... it's these kids that made me decide that i don't think i want children.
while watching my brother skate around, i realised that i would love to sketch him skating. when i mentioned this, he asked if i could photograph him as well. so, that's what i'll be doing tomorrow from 9 to 12!
i'm the youngest of four, in age order we are; sister, brother, brother, and me.

of the siblings, i'm the one who didn't follow the same path. i'm the one who went to a different high school, the one who ended up with a disease, the one with any allergies... you get the picture.
but, despite our age differences, all the siblings are relatively close. my sister and i especially.

luckily, we're able to share clothes, though our sense of fashion is a bit different at times... actually, most of the time.

we'd recently been trying to plan a trip to somewhere in europe, but we found out this morning that that wasn't possible, seeing as we couldn't get back in time for her work, and she can't afford to miss any days.

sometime last week, my friend and i had a photoshoot. not as weird as it may sound...
usually we have a theme (nature, sailors, peace, etc.) but this time, our theme couldn't be summarized in only one word. or even one sentence. we went searching for clothes that weren't the norm; things you don't tend to see on the streets. she ended up wearing a shirt as a dress with a tutu her grandmother made her underneath. oh, and don't forget knee socks from our high school years (which are now over, hoorah!) this friend of mine is a beauty, not to mention she's one of the smartest people i've ever met.
i, on the other hand, found a jacket of my dads that he's grown out of, and changed it up a bit. i altered the sleeves to make the more fitted, slightly more feminine. and i also added buttons up one side and down the back, starting closing together and then spacing them up the farther away they got.
the buttons we could never find anything to go with finally went to good use!
i also wore some shoes i bought a few months ago for $5 that look ancient, but i love them. chunky looking, made with old brown leather. j'adore!

the weird thing is, i would totally wear that jacket in public. i love it. i feel like i could take on the world.
i don't know why, but i've taken a liking to taking my dads old clothes and altering them to make them worth wearing for me. i would almost like to call it the 'boyfriend style', but that's definately not what i'm going for. for me, every outfit tells a story. my style changes so much, depending on how i'm feeling, and what story i feel like telling that today. today, i dressed like i was an artist. black flip flops that tie up the leg, short plaid shorts in pale colors, an elbow length black tshirt, and a green beret.
but back to wearing things that look like the 'boyfriend style';

i've wanted to recreate this look for quite some time now, but considering i've been busy, and have had no money for the moment, i haven't been able to.
and that is it for the day. sorry for such an abrupt end, but i've talked about nothing for long enough, and i need to start thinking about what to have for dinner since i have soccer practice tonight. i hope everyone is having an amazing monday!
xxo.
