tell me your secrets, child

i just realized that i never wrote about having my fortune told! (by the way, what's up with the word realized? is it realized or realised? i always thought it was realised, but on my phone, realised doesn't seem to exist! on realized does. how strange. what do you think?) moving on...
so we decided to get our fortunes told quite in the heat of the moment.

courtesy.

my mom, my sister and i were walking around rockport, in gloucester, and walked by this little place that we noticed had ' fortune telling ' in the window. we mentioned how we'd never had our fortunes told, and decided to do it!

we went in age order. my mom first. my sister and i waited outside. we decided that having your fortune told is very personal, and if my mom wanted us to know, she could tell us herself.

next my sister went. and finally, so did i.

i was terrified, sweating palms, fidgety, heart racing. since i'd never had my fortune told, i didn't know what to expect. i didn't know whether or not she'd bring up dark secrets from my past, or tell me that i was going to die a tragic death. in the end, though, i had nothing to worry about.

from what i remember, (i did write it down, but i'm not sure where i put the paper... this is an example of trying to help my forgetfulness, and it failing...) i'm going to live a long life and die of old age, have a good education (but will need to work really hard... college starts in less than two weeks. i'm ready!) and have a good career. she said that i would be really heartbroken twice, and then fall in love and get married in my late twenties. oh, and i'll have two kids. apparently, none of my family or friends are going to die a tragic death. and, according to her, i have two spirits (or presences) surrounding me, protecting me. she didn't tell me who they were, but i think i've figured it out.

and that's pretty much it!

what do you think of fortune telling? full of truth or full of treason?

i'm still undecided about fortune telling. but we'll see, won't we?

xxo.

p.s. the rumours you hear about 'gypsies' or 'fortune tellers' being very creepy? so not true. she was a very nice woman. i really liked her!

just another little dream

today is my mothers birthday. while 5 kids were passed out in the living room, and two more out in a tent, (i don't understand why we're still referred to as kids, we're aged from 17 to 30, for goodness sake!) when my mom woke up, she immediately received champagne and orange juice. mhmmm. once we'd all woken up, we joined in. periodically eating bagels, chatting about the weather, and going out for a smoke.
we're always at the cottage for the first weekend of august; always around my mom's birthday. this year, she decided she didn't want us to celebrate only her birthday, so we sang happy birthday to 'all of us', and each had cupcakes. including one of the missing 'kids', who is currently living in australia. we even set her a place and the table, and cooked cupcakes for her, her boyfriend, and the daughter of her boyfriend.
while at the cottage, i started (and didn't manage to finish...) a painting. i'm hoping i'll be able to finish it soon, but who knows! i went out fishing with my dad and his close friend, the owner of the cottage, simon. my dad caught the most fish; 8. imagine! simon caught 1, and i caught 3. though, they were all smaller than the size of my fist...
so, i'm home for the night (with many bug bites... i'm itchy all over!), and leave tomorrow morning for gloucester, massachusetts. (i always manage to mispronounce and misspell that word...) i would post pictures from the cottage, but right after we took our final group shot, there was a lens error, and none of us know how to fix it. the way things are going, i may not have any pictures from gloucester for you!

anyways, let me entertain you with a little dream of mine...
after having seen the phantom of the opera again a few weeks ago, i realised that i would really like to go to a masquerade.

aren't they dashing? i would just love to attend a masquerade ball. and fall in love with a lovely boy wearing a mask... oh, just imagine.

xxo.

dear, i miss you

today, i depart. i'll be in the middle of nowhere, living in a cottage; painting and fishing.
because i'll be in the middle of nowhere, i won't be able to blog. the good news, is that i'm only gone 'til sunday. the bad news is, on monday i leave again. this time, for gloucester massachusetts.
these two trips are the first ones since i went to florida in march. it was beautiful, i love it there. here are a few pictures from that trip.

as you can probably tell, i love photographing the sky. it's just so beautiful!
anyways, i will think of ideas of what to write while i'm gone and i'll photograph things to show you. if any of my paintings work out, i'll take a picture of those too to show you!
oh, and of course, i'll try to catch some fish for you!
i hope everyone has a lovely weekend, and if you have any exciting cottage stories, i would love to hear them!
though i won't be able to write to you, i'll still be able to see what is written to me! (thank goodness for having a phone that i can get emails on...)
take care!
xxo.
